Fine Gael Local Area Representative in Glasnevin/Ballymun Noel Rock has urged voluntary community groups in Glasnevin and Ballymun to apply for funding to the Dublin Bus Community Spirit Initiative, which is now seeking applications.

“I hope that the local community in Glasnevin and Ballymun are made fully aware of this great Community Spirit Initiative, which grants financial awards to community and voluntary groups in order to help them make a meaningful contribution to towns in which Dublin Bus operates.

“To date, up to 1,300 community voluntary groups in Dublin have benefitted from these awards.

“Glasnevin and Ballymun both a rich community voluntary sector and this is a unique and terrific opportunity for volunteers to apply for some additional support to develop new projects, grow services and help raise community spirit.

“The Dublin Bus Community Spirit Initiative is now seeking applications for grants of €1,000, €2,000 or €5,000 for voluntary groups that work in the area of Children and Youth, Sport, People with Disabilities, Older people, Environment and Local Community and Education.

“Investment in community groups has a positive knock on affect for the public at large and raises community spirit and I am pleased that Dublin Bus has continued to recognise its role in playing a part in local development.

“The closing date for applications is Friday the 7th June 2013. More information can be found online at www.dublinbus.ie and I wish all applicants the very best of luck. If I can be of any assistance in applying, I would be happy to help”
