Fine Gael TD for Dublin North West, Noel Rock, has today (Wednesday) welcomed the confirmation by the National Transport Authority (NTA) that the new 24-hour bus service for Dublin is expected to start on December 1st.

The date was confirmed to the Deputy in a meeting of the Oireachtas Committee of Transport, Tourism and Sport on Wednesday afternoon.

Deputy Rock said: “The confirmation of a starting date for this new 24-hour service is very welcome and barring any delays will be a welcome gift for public transport users, particularly as we enter the Christmas party season and long beyond it.

“Additionally, those coming home for Christmas, will also have a direct route to the city centre with the 41-bus route servicing the Airport, one of the routes that will be part of this new service.

“I am also delighted that they have confirmed the same for the 15 bus route.

“This is a positive move forward and I hope that Dublin Bus will work closely with the NTA to ensure the service starts on this date.

“This will benefit many commuters in Dublin and I would encourage more people to use public transport, particularly later at night,” continued Deputy Rock.

“With Santa Claus coming to town soon, he even might consider this new route to deliver presents and give the reindeer a well-deserved break!,” concluded Deputy Rock.
