Kavanagh’s in Glasnevin – aka The Gravediggers’ – has been named as one of two Irish locations in a list of 50 hidden gems around Europe, as compiled by Lonely Planet.

Speaking on this, local Councillor Noel Rock said: “It’s great recognition of a brilliant establishment and confirms what we already all knew locally: it’s a great place and something that truly stands out.

Cllr. Rock added: “It’s right next to the gates of Glasnevin Cemetery and is the perfect place for a chat and a pint for both locals and tourists alike. With this, Glasnevin Museum, the soon-to-open O’Connell Tower and the Botanic Gardens on our doorstep – there’s plenty of reasons for the rest of Ireland to pay a visit to this brilliant spot!”

Cllr. Rock concluded: “For The Gravediggers to be recognised as one of two hidden gems in the whole country, and in the top 50 in Europe, is a testament to how unique it is, and I look forward to toasting their success the next time I’m in there”.
