Rock Welcomes €700,000 Sports Capital Investment For Area

Dublin North West Fine Gael representative Noel Rock today welcomed the Sports Capital Grant announcements, with over €40m being invested in sports clubs right across the country – a 33% increase from the previous round, overseen by Fine Gael Minister Michael Ring.

Speaking on this, Cllr. Rock said: “In every round of sports capital grant funding since I started my local work, our area has demonstrated its proficiency in a great many sports and, every time, sports clubs in and around our area have been rewarded with generous sports capital grants thanks to the work of teams and committees. I am happy to say that this year is no different, with a number of clubs receiving a combined €700,000 of these grants which will go towards a wide variety of projects”.

Cllr. Rock continued: “Among these clubs include St Kevin’s Boys Football Club, which has received €200,000 towards their development of an AstroTurf pitch, which will allow them to continue their great work at the heart of our community. Home Farm Football Club, Glasnevin Lawn Tennis Club, Dominican College, Whitehall Colmcille, Stella Maris, McKelvey Celtic, Charleville Lawn Tennis Club and Clonliffe Harriers were also among our local beneficiaries in and around my constituency”.

Cllr. Rock added: “I was glad to write letters of support for a number of these projects. Sports are at the heart of our community, and my sincere congratulations go to those involved on the committees of these clubs and those who devote their time to volunteer week in and week out on putting together applications for these grants. I have no doubt that these grants will allow these clubs to prosper for a great many years to come, and I look forward to seeing these projects coming to fruition and supporting any future projects in the area”.
